Alpha Epsilon Delta
AED is the National Health Preprofessional Honor Society dedicated to the encouragement and recognition of excellence in preprofessional health scholarship, including medicine, dentistry, veterinary, and others. The Society welcomes ALL students engaged in the pursuit of a professional healthcare career.
Requirements for membership in national AED:
- Minimum GPA 3.2 (total GPA and science GPA)
- Completion of at least three semesters of preprofessional health course work, at least one of which must be at Southern Miss
- Students must be in good standing with the Southern Miss chapter and pay the national membership fee through the Southern Miss chapter.
Students wishing to join AED as full members may do so in the Spring semester of the Sophomore year, if they have fulfilled the membership requirements. Students are invited to join as associate members at any time and may attend meetings if they intend to become full members at a future semester.
Full Membership $85.00 (Total lifetime fee)
- Minimum GPA 3.2 (total GPA and science GPA)
- Completion of at least three semesters of college course work, one of which is at Southern Miss
Associate Membership $45 (One time fee)
- Students who do not fulfill all the criteria for Full Membership may join as Associate Members and upgrade when appropriate for an additional $40 fee.
Download (see links below) and then fill out 1). the national AED form and 2). the Southern Miss AED chapter form; submit both forms with 3). the appropriate dues (write checks payable to USM AED or pay cash in person). Completed applications may be submitted to the Pre-Professional Office, which is located in the College of Science and Technology Dean’s Office complex in the Chain Technology Building (TEC 103), or mailed to the Pre-Professional Office, USM Box 5165 via campus mail. DO NOT MAIL CASH.
